The Oklahoma State University’s Canopy HealthTech Director will lead the strategy, implementation, and day-to-day operations for Oklahoma State University’s Canopy HealthTech Program participation. The Director reports to the Executive Director of the Center for Health Systems Innovation and indirectly to the Canopy Program Director at OU i-Hub.
The OSU Director works in a fast paced and unstructured environment that interfaces with research, technology and business worlds within Oklahoma State University and the other Canopy Health University and corporate stakeholders within Oklahoma, and national partners. The OSU Director must demonstrate a significant leadership role in this position by the development, promotion, and execution of Oklahoma State University’s participation in this complex interdisciplinary program. A major effort for this position requires the ability to coach and mentor academic faculty on the requirements and realities of participating in Canopy and how Canopy can help in navigating the business world involving the commercialization of virtual health technology. Another important effort for this position is to drive collaboration across the Canopy HealthTech partnership including the Tulsa Innovation Labs, University of Oklahoma, Tulsa University, Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology, and 36 North. This is a senior level position that provides the opportunity to leverage new and existing relationships, evaluate new technologies and assess new business opportunities while developing relationships with outside investors and industry to sustain the program's funding.
Canopy HealthTech will establish a key component of the infrastructure necessary to connect virtual health technologists with needed resources to launch start-ups. After a competitive application process, Canopy HealthTech will accelerate commercialization for participant teams by providing product development funding, active project management, entrepreneurial training, and commercialization mentorship. This mentorship will be provided by a diverse group of medical technology executives. As these projects transition from academia to venture creation, Canopy HealthTech will establish a “soft landing” for them in Tulsa.
