Oklahoma State University is Hiring an Advertising Specialist Near Stillwater, OK

The Advertising Specialist has primary responsibility for a) conceptualizing, writing and editing ad copy, shepherding ad projects through the design process, and optimizing digital ad performance b) working with advertising agencies to provide OSU ad assets on deadline c) collaborating with campus partners such as Undergraduate Admissions, the academic colleges and various university departments to create advertising plans and execute ad strategies on behalf of those partners and d) monitoring campaign reports and optimizing results.
DESCRIPTION OF ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Will utilize skills in conceptualizing, writing, and directing advertising campaigns to best showcase the university and its departments. The advertising specialist will serve as an expert copywriter and editor for all university-wide advertisements. The position will work with Brand Management colleagues, various agency partners and the Strategist of Advertising & Analytics to propose and execute various branding and advertising campaigns, to include print, digital, radio, TV, outdoor, and others. The individual will write landing page copy that coordinates with campaigns and partner with the web development team to create optimized website pages, including pages that are personalized based on audience motivation and personalities. These efforts align with OSU’s strategic marketing and communications plan which prioritizes recruitment, retention and reputation management.
Must understand the principles of strategic communications in advertising, social media, and the digital media landscape. The individual should demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in finding new opportunities to showcase Oklahoma State University.
This role will work with the Strategist of Advertising & Analytics to create regular reporting on advertising initiatives and make recommendations and adjustments based on data and analytics.

Our areas of expertise include media relations, crisis communications, internal/external messaging, branding, advertising, recruitment communications, visual media, digital strategy and more. This office aims to elevate Oklahoma State University’s profile by showcasing programs, resources and expertise as well as garner recognition for its efforts within the state, nation and world.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Advertising, Journalism, Communications, PR, Marketing, English or a related field.

One year of experience in advertising, copywriting, design, marketing, or communications and displayed proficiency in advertising or social media marketing.

Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to organize materials, write, edit, visualize concepts and designs, communicate and interpret goals, including demonstrated proficiency in the use of AP style and adaptive writing. Project management experience required, including the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects at any given time. Ability to work cross-functionally with supervisors, unit staff and campus partners to ensure a collaborative environment, coordinated efforts and maximized outcomes. Must learn quickly and demonstrate flexibility in the work environment. Exhibit strong attention to detail as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple assignments with different priorities and tight deadlines. Demonstrate creativity, integrity and passion for growing the brand of Oklahoma State University.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two to four years of experience in a higher education advertising or marketing.

Displayed proficiency in creating engaging free and paid advertising, social media, and other traditional marketing content. Understanding of key advertising audiences in higher education. Ability to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision. Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe Print Graphics Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign). Mac OS platform experience preferred. Strong conceptual skills, a high level sense of design, layout and typography.
