Oklahoma State University is Hiring an Accounting Specialist Near Stillwater, OK

Fire Protection Publications is a mission-driven, values-based organization dedicated to the production of high-quality educational content for the international community of firefighters and first responders.
As the Accounting Specialist -Sells and Use Tax Compliance you will file monthly and quarterly tax returns assigned by states for all goods sold. The tax returns are filed through the individual states tax sites as required. This individual will also maintain the Tax software used at FPP. The tax management software houses all tax records for taxes collected per order and the exemption certificates for clients This position will be responsible to tax returns, tax reports and state registrations. This position will work with other departments to ensure tax compliant through OSU and FPP systems. The person in this role must have an attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and manage projects and deadlines.

This position is deadline driven by each State Department of Revenue. Returns are time sensitive. At times, work may be required outside of normal office hours.

Position Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

High school degree/GED and two years of experience in accounting/bookkeeping and Customer Service. Post-secondary education may be substituted for years of required experience.

The ability to learn OSU policies and procedures. Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time. The ability to manage projects and deadlines. Excellent oral and written communications skill. Ability to work independently and in teams. Demonstrated understanding and application of FPP’s organizational values: Service, Safety, Quality, Integrity, Excellence, Professionalism, Accuracy, Collaboration, Credibility, Innovativeness, Accountability. Highly organized, ability to set and maintain schedules, excellent writing skills, excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, attention to details, planner, time management, respectful, confident, empathy, action/solution-oriented, productive/results-oriented, continuous learner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Five years of experience with Microsoft Office and various accounting software packages. Two years’ experience with OSU accounting functions and tax compliance for businesses in other states.
