Description
A Mental Health deputy is required to transport consumers as needed. Know and follow state law according to Title 43A. Make assessments of persons believed to be mentally ill to determine the need for short term hospitalization/treatment. Assist in locating and arranging inpatient care. Assist families in providing services through Department of Mental Health and court system. Respond to calls for service when available for mental health crisis.Utilize ODMHSAS-issued telehealth device to connect with local behavioral health provider network, and provide outreach and follow up to individuals who have frequent interactions with area law enforcement or emergency services due to behavioral health treatment needs. Additionally, deputies must show the ability to communicate effectively with all citizens and be able to occasionally speak in a public forum. This position also requires the ability to conduct traffic stops, and assist other LE agencies in emergency situations. Once selected, Deputy will complete FTO, CIT, De-Escalation, and Negotiator training the first year, and demonstrate a willingness and dedication toward the extensive commitment necessary to complete and maintain full negotiator certifications. The selected deputy will work a 10.5 hour shift in a rotation of 4 days on and 3 days off. Actual shift times and days will be determined.
Experience
CLEET Certified as a Full-time peace officer in Oklahoma; Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and computer skills with an emphasis on data entry and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; Must be self-motivated and work effectively with minimal supervision; Ability to quickly learn and navigate anywhere within Oklahoma County.
