    Position Summary:
    The Director of Research and Data Strategy leads a team of research professionals responsible for evaluation activities for new or existing programs, analytics, data visualizations, and using data strategically to drive improvement across the organization. The Director supports data-informed decision making in the district as a skilled communicator and storyteller about data and coordinates responsible and effective data use among various departments.
    Essential Duties:
    • Supervises the selection, performance, and evaluation of Research & Data Strategy staff.
    • Oversees the production of effective, useful written, visual, and oral reports on data and insights related to the effectiveness of district programs and continuous improvement efforts, including annual reports on the district strategic plan.
    • Sets strategic direction for the department and acts as a key collaborator with district leaders and data users.
    • Consults with project staff and district administrators to maintain time lines and meet required deadlines.
    • Stays connected with current trends and research into promising practices related to educational research, data strategy, and analytics for improvement.
    • Develops the design and instrumentation for evaluation and research studies.
    • Analyzes and interprets data collected to ensure consistently accurate and valid measurements.
    • Provides technical assistance in data collection and analysis to other departments and outside researchers and evaluators.
    • Supports processes for goal setting and monitoring to support the district’s strategic plan.
    • Provides leadership over the development and maintenance of internal and external data visualizations and data dashboards designed to communicate about the district improvement strategy.
      Builds leadership capacity across district departments to use data-informed decision-making and to think critically and strategically about opportunity gaps and organizational needs.
    • Directs the design, implementation, and reporting of formal evaluations of school district programs.
    • Supervises the activities of the research review committee and monitors all research projects conducted in the district by outside agencies.
    • Directs and coordinates the preparation of studies, analyses, evaluations, and reports commissioned by the CIAO, the Superintendent, and /or the Board of Education.
    • Provides for publication and dissemination of research findings and evaluation results internally and externally as required.
    • Works with schools and other departments in the monitoring of student achievement and school effectiveness. Provides schools with data tools for state and federal programs and school improvement teams.
    • Assists with the analysis and presentations of research findings and evaluation results.
    • Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
      Job Specifications:
      To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
      Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
    • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in Experimental Psychology, Education, statistical analysis, research or program evaluation design and methods, psychometrics, business or public administration, sociology, economics, or computer science.
    • Earned doctorate from an accredited college or university with major course work in Experimental Psychology, Education, statistical analysis, research or program evaluation design and methods, psychometrics, business or public administration, sociology, economics, or computer science preferred
    • Proficiency with SPSS or SAS programming and analysis, including experience with large-scale education databases.
    • Proficiency with survey design and complex survey software, such as Qualtrics.
    • Proficiency with Google productivity tools and Microsoft Office software (including Excel).
    • Significant experience in designing and conducting program evaluations or research and analysis projects using large-scale databases. Experimental and Quasi-Experimental designs and methodology experience required.
    • Skill in designing and implementing program evaluations, with strong skills in both quantitative and qualitative methods of program evaluation.
    • Expertise in research design and data analysis, using robust analytical techniques (qualitative & quantitative analyses).
    • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tell compelling stories about data and insights orally, visually, and in writing.
    • Competence in database creation, project management, and strategic planning.
    • Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships.
