    Principal Secretary
    Position Summary:
    The secretary is responsible for carrying out all assignments including making some independent judgments and decisions based on information provided by the principal.
    Essential Duties:
    • Types various correspondence, brochures, forms and material orders as directed.
    • Sets up and maintains an efficient filling system.
    • Maintains accurate reporting system; activity account and mailing list.
    • Make referrals to class sites and services providers.
    • Keeps and maintains accurate records pertaining to the school, students, materials, classes and contacts.
    • Maintains accurate financial records for an activity account.
    • Works well under pressure of deadlines; works well with others.
    • Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Division/Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties, or fills in when an individual is away from the work station.
    • Works without constant supervision.
    • Communicates effectively both in writing and speaking.
    • Listens, discerns caller' pronlems, and makes appropriate responses and referrals.
    • To ensure continuity of services, alternative work site may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for alternative work site will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for alternative work site will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required):
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Type 40 wpm accurately,
    • One year of secretarial experience and/or work experience.
    • Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore, for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
    Physical/Mental Requirements:
    • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
    • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
    • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
    • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
    • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes stressful conditions
      in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
    Work Environment:
    • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
    • Driving personal vehicle within and outside the district.
