Job Description

  • Our Client requires the supplier to augment the team and provide Wi-Fi networking, software, and hardware design, operation, and management in support of client initiatives and projects.
  • Highly specialized in one or more phases of software systems development, systems integration, or network engineering.
  • Provides technical assistance and advice on complex activities. Formulates / defines specifications, develops / modifies / maintains complex systems and subsystems, using vendor engineering releases and utilities for overall operational systems.
  • Applies analytical techniques when gathering information from users, defining work problems, designing technology solutions, and developing procedures to resolve the problems.
  • Develops complete specifications to enable computer programmers to prepare required programs.
  • Analyzes methods of approach.
  • Reviews task proposal requirements, gathers information, analyzes data, prepares project synopses, compares alternatives, prepares specifications, resolves processing problems, coordinates work with programmers and engineers, and orients users to new systems.
  • Works with considerable freedom to make decisions on the techniques and approaches to be used.
  • Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration.

Certifications Required

  • Active RCDD

Responsibilities will include

  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex wireless network issues escalated from Tier 2 engineers.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Tier 2 Wireless Engineers.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams for integrated wireless solutions.
  • Design, implement, and manage wireless network infrastructure projects.
  • Perform wireless network performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain wireless network documentation and diagrams.
  • Mitigating vulnerabilities affecting hardware and software.
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure (CPI) support.
  • Providing and implementing escalation process and or procedures as appropriate.
  • Submit LAN and switch acceptance as a backup to Tier 2, as necessary.
  • Perform duties in support of the mission as directed by USPS Management.
  • Working upgrades, to include weekends or off-duty hours, and may include travel as necessary.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in wireless network engineering.
  • Expertise in wireless network protocols, technologies, and architecture design.
  • Proficiency in wireless network monitoring tools (e.g., Cisco Prime, Ekahau).
  • Expert knowledge of wireless communication protocols, security standards, and methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of network infrastructure equipment, including routers, switches, and access points.
  • Ability to design and implement complex wireless networks involving multiple access points and devices.
  • Familiarity with wireless testing tools such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Proficient with Programing in languages, such as Python, C, C , etc.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a team mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Continuous learning and current knowledge of latest trends, technologies, and industry developments in the wireless communication field.
  • Works on high-visibility, or mission critical aspects of a given program, and performs all functional duties independently.
  • Oversees the efforts of direct reporting resources and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with IP Management Tools
  • Creating and managing Change Requests using ServiceNow.
  • Knowledge of Cisco Switch configuration management.
  • Knowledge of site reviews for Cisco networks including circuit capacity, switch types, and IOS.
  • Knowledge of CPI and Network Automation (NA).
  • Ability to read, write, and test code within a Cisco environment.
  • Experience with other wireless solutions such as Cisco Meraki, HPE Aruba, Juniper Mist, and Fortinet.

Education

  • A minimum of thirteen (13) years relevant experience.
  • A degree from an accredited College/University in the applicable field of services is preferred. four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required.
  • If the individual s degree is not in the applicable field, then four additional years of related experience is required.
