Job Summary:
The Food Runner is responsible for delivering food orders from the kitchen to customers' tables in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The Food Runner plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Delivery:
- Retrieve prepared food items from the kitchen and ensure they are accurately matched with customers' orders.
- Deliver food orders to customers' tables promptly and courteously, following established service standards.
- Assist in coordinating food delivery with kitchen staff and servers to ensure orders are delivered efficiently.
- Table Maintenance:
- Monitor tables and promptly remove empty dishes, used utensils, and other items to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
- Reset tables with clean utensils, napkins, and condiments for the next guests.
- Attend to guests' requests for additional condiments, beverages, or utensils as needed.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and other restaurant team members to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Relay any special requests, dietary restrictions, or guest feedback to the appropriate personnel.
- Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team to prioritize orders and address any issues or delays in food delivery.
- Customer Service:
- Provide friendly and attentive service to guests, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Anticipate guests' needs and respond promptly to ensure a positive dining experience.
- Handle guest complaints or inquiries professionally and escalate to management if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift and carry trays of food and beverages as needed.
