OH ASU Enterprise Partners Outreach Hub is Hiring a Senior Copywriter Near Tempe, AZ

Senior Copywriter The ASU Outreach Hub is dedicated to connecting more constituents in impactful ways using data-derived insights, integrated and collaborative approaches and advanced outreach techniques in support of the ASU Public Enterprise. The senior copywriter will work collaboratively to plan, research, write, edit, review and optimize marketing content that aims to persuade people to donate to the ASU programs and initiatives they care about. This will include writing persuasive fundraising and solicitation copy that resonates with current and prospective donor audiences, creates an emotional connection and drives donations. This position is responsible for creating content for all print and digital marketing communications channels, including direct mail, email outreach, websites, advertising, collateral, video scripts, presentations and more. What you’ll do: Aligns solicitation writing activities with the strategic plan in support of the ASU Foundation’s goals and objectives. Writes concise, articulate and persuasive solicitation proposals and narratives. Takes initiative in identifying tone and voice of relative stakeholders in order to write clear, persuasive, original copy that focuses on the audience, tells a compelling story, creates urgency and drives action. Researches, writes and edits content for a wide variety of communication vehicles, including but not limited to direct mail, email outreach, advertising, websites, newsletters, brochures, video and more. Applies a deep understanding of audience segmentation, marketing research and project requirements, as defined by creative briefs and project requirements, to develop copy that engages ASU and ASU Foundation constituents, with a focus on cultivation and solicitation of donors. Delivers consistent, powerful and compelling messaging that incorporates resource raising and advancement priorities, audience insights and strategy into creative concepts while adhering to university and ASUEP’s branding guidelines. Researches and synthesizes a large volume of complex ideas and wide variety of topics into coherent, compelling content for outreach and solicitation of prospective donors and organizational funders. Works closely with fellow writers, editors, creative team members and other internal and external partners to plan and develop content and strategize communications efforts. Works in close alignment with various ASU Outreach Hub team members, including but not limited to the design and video team, project management, alumni engagement, digital marketing and paid media teams. Actively balances a variety of projects, prioritizes workload based on deadlines and routinely reports progress on projects through project management tools and processes. Actively participates on internal and external workgroups and committees to advance projects and stay informed about emerging best practices. Other duties as assigned. What you'll need: Exceptional writing skills (from long form to headlines) Expertise in writing targeted, persuasive communications including direct mail and a variety of marketing materials for donor audiences Ability to develop compelling and original copy that aligns with the ASU brand; a great storyteller with a passion for the creative process Exceptional conceptual and strategic thinker Demonstrated knowledge of AP style and applying brand standards Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines Ability to problem solve, make decisions and work both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision, in a highly collaborative environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Creative and critical thinking skills Excellent proofing and editing skills with precise attention to detail Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies Proficient in MS Office suite, Drupal, Google Docs, Adobe InCopy, and project management systems Skilled in exercising a high degree of judgment and diplomacy Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASU Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information Relevant qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field Four (4) years of writing/editing experience, including experience in fundraising and philanthropic work Preferred education and experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years of writing/editing experience in the nonprofit, higher education environment with extensive experience in fundraising and philanthropic work Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field Four (4) years of writing/editing experience, including experience in fundraising and philanthropic work Benefits: Hybrid work schedule.
