Ogden School District (District Wide) is Hiring an Occupational Therapist [LIC2576] Near Ogden, UT

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapist provides appropriate occupational therapy services to students based on the student’s needs and abilities. Services may be direct or consultative depending on the educational needs of the student. The occupational therapist also provides support to school staff in developing appropriate educational programming for students with disabilities as required.

Education and Experience

  • Must be a currently licensed Occupational Therapist.
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university
  • Experience in a school system or other pediatric area preferred. 
  • Knowledge about the federal and state education rules and regulations which impact an Occupational Therapist's role in providing services to special education students. 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Compliance with USBE state license requirements
  • Valid occupational therapy license through the Utah Department of Professional Licensing 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with students, parents, and staff
  • Strong computer and educational technology skills
  • Effective problem solving, organizational, multi-taking, and time management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment and calmly handle classroom management issues establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, and distract staff
  • Work as a member of a team as well as the ability to work independently

Performance Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate motor and psychomotor abilities
  • Collaborate with General Education and Special Education staff in designing and implementing interventions and accommodations
  • Provide appropriate assessment, services determination, and collection of progress monitoring information on each student
  • Determine the extent of fine motor or sensory processing deficits in students
  • Coordinate, develop and manage IEP files
  • Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines.
  • Other duties as assigned by administrator.
  • Adhere to contract time
  • Attend and participate in faculty or department meetings as required
  • Maintain confidentiality of all student information 
  • May be required to travel to district schools and other locations using own transportation 
  • Direct, teach, or monitor paraprofessionals
  • Provide in-service trainings and materials to educators, team members, and parents as needed
  • Collect data on IEP goals and maintain student daily documentation notes
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation of treatment
  • Implement the plan of care through direct treatment
  • Provide instruction and education to student, teachers, staff, and family
