- Job title: Medical Assistant
- Reports to: Office Manager
- As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing support to the clinical operation of the optometry office.
- You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
- The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Update medical records
- Schedule referral appointments
- Code insurance claims
- Input data into electronic medical records
- Erx medications to pharmacies
- Assist during medical examinations
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Perform diagnostic and imaging test
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Train and assist patients with contact lens orders
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant
- Knowledge of medical office procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Social perceptiveness and service oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in Revolution or other patient management software
- High school diploma
- General knowledge of computers
- Must be a self-starter and able to work under minimal supervision
- Experience in medical assisting is a plus
- Must be able to work in a fast pace environment
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
