OCH Technologies, LLC is Hiring an Operational Systems Support (OSS) Near Warrenton, VA

Description

OCH Technologies is hiring a Linux Systems Administrator for an Operational Systems Support (OSS) position supporting the FAA from the Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) in Warrenton, VA. OSS is a part of a larger technical team and interpersonal administrators called the TFMS Consolidated Service Desk (TCSD). 

The OSS position will provide first level technical support to manage the FAA Traffic Flow Management System (TFMS) application including systems administration, operations, and maintenance. Must have solid technical skills in Linux and Windows.

Location

FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) in Warrenton, VA. 

Shift Details

Training Period: M-F approximately 8:00AM – 4:00PM 

Post-Training: 

- Day Shift (6:00AM – 4:00PM), Rotating days 

- Night Shift (4:00PM – 12:00AM), Rotating days

Core Responsibilities & Duties

  • Day-to-day operational system administration support to administer, monitor, and maintain a large-scale computer network and related software, hardware, and configurations
  • Providing technical and system administration support through troubleshooting, identifying and isolating issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing appropriate solutions to software and system issues as they occur
  • Responding to program-related issues, resolving problems and customer tickets, and preparing technical documentation accurately depicting the problem and/or solution to provide to developer/level 2 support if necessary
  • Installing, configuring, patching and maintaining servers and workstations
  • Maintaining the health of the network environment and servers
  • Identifying and analyzing issues that affect the performance of the system, and to work in close coordination with the development team and recommend solutions for the issues
  • Recommending and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management
  • Analyzing and identifying discrepancies in the system, assess the risks, and suggesting solutions while adhering to security standards
  • Developing and documenting technical processes and procedures, if needed
  • Available for on-call support, if needed

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree and 5-years of relevant experience

Experience

  • Experience with critical operations in a large-scale secure environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux (Red Hat Linux Enterprise Server/Workstation Suite and Red Hat Satellite Server Suite preferred) including knowledge of related hardware and software
  • Detailed knowledge of the Unix methods, and techniques used in systems administration and support
  • Detailed knowledge of Unix principles, file editing, Unix commands, and file manipulation
  • Knowledge of Linux/Perl scripting, web-based applications, HP OpenView Enterprise
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN networks
  • Knowledge of networking principles including routing, subnets and an understanding of the following: TCP/IP, VLANs, NIS, NFS, DNS, DHCP, FTP/TFTP, SSH, SFTP, ARP
  • Experience providing operations & maintenance support, including supporting helpdesk, providing 24/7 engineering support for system outages or corrective maintenance, supporting technology (hardware/software) refreshes, and understanding backup procedures and storage management
  • Supporting and following configuration management plans and processes, updating documentation, supporting annual authorization processes including independent testing teams
  • Providing system monitoring, access, effective stakeholder notification and communication, and various other engineering and operational activities

Security Clearance Requirement

Candidate must have the ability to hold and maintain a Public Trust 

Other Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
