Norman Regional Health System and Oceans Healthcare have partnered to expand access to behavioral health services in south central Oklahoma through construction of a new, state-of-the-art behavioral hospital. Opening Summer 2024.

Behavioral Health Center at Porter Health Village, a 48-bed facility, will more that double Norman Regional Health System’s inpatient capacity for adult and senior behavioral health patients and add new services, including an intensive outpatient program and a dedicated geriatric behavioral health unit. The freestanding hospital will be located on the Norman Regional Porter campus and replace the existing 20-bed behavioral health unit.

The Registered Dietitian (RD) coordinates all phases of nutritional care while maintaining communication with contracted food and supplement suppliers, dietary manager, physicians, and nursing staff. Nutritional care to include nutrition assessment of all at-risk patients, care planning, monitoring, education, and counseling. The RD supervises the dietary manager and techs nursing meal times. Assists with ordering snacks, food supplements, fruits, and special dietary needs. Ensures patient satisfaction. All duties to be done in accordance with Joint Commission, Federal and State regulations, Oceans' Mission, policies and procedures and Performance Improvement Standards.

Essential Functions:

1. Assures at-risk patients at assessed appropriately and timely and educated according to their prescribed diet; follow-up with diet orders and reassess if needed.
2. Performs visual inspection of food and patients during meals; meets with patients routinely to receive feedback.
3. Communicate diet needs/consults with nursing to encourage diet accuracy; Participates in patient treatment planning and makes recommendations for dietary needs.
4. Keeps current documentation of assessments, weight changes, visual observation; keep current all diet orders/change orders.
5. Supervises the meal and snack services; communicates diet needs to treatment team members.
6. Coordinates preparation and delivery of food for health care meals with the dietary vendor.
7. Keep abreast of dietary products being served, coordinate appropriate menus served; communicates dietary needs
8. Participates in the Infection Control Committee, Utilization Review Committee, Safety Committee and/or other committees assigned.
9. Oversees dietary manager's responsibility of food storage monitors, refrigerator storage temperature, and monitoring expiration dates on all food items.
10. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
