1. Minimum Qualifications:
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must obtain a Food Handlers card.
4. Ability to supervise and personally perform the major cooking tasks in preparing school meals.
5. Knowledge of food ordering/menu planning and preparation to meet state requirements.
6. Knowledge of kitchen equipment and sanitation requirements of food preparation and handling.
7. Computer knowledge and proficient at Excel and Microsoft Word.

General Description of the Position:

This position manages, participates in the operation of a school kitchen, and prepares meals at the school. The Head Cook supervises the other Food Services employees assigned to the building program and plans the menus to meet state requirements for the building program. The Head Cook is also responsible for keeping records of meals served, food orders, inventory and cash receipts. Must be able to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees, follow oral and written instructions accurately, and maintain control of students in the designated areas.

• Light work, exerts force and/or lifts or carries objects weighing up to 25 lbs occasionally; occasional lifting of approximately 40 – 70 pounds
• Talking, constantly
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally;
• Intermittent bending, twisting, squatting kneeling, climbing stairs, reaching.
• Moving about frequently from location to location. 

Salary and Terms of Employment:

The salary and terms of employment are established by Oakridge School District in agreement with conditions set forth in the contract with Oregon School Employees Association, Chapter 46 and School Board Policy.
