Oakland County Michigan is Hiring an User Support Specialist I Near Waterford, MI

Acts as a liaison between a County department and the Information Technology department. Performs duties involved in the implementation, maintenance and modification of a single software application affecting a departmental unit or other departments/organizations, or multiple software systems affecting a single departmental unit. Demonstrates an understanding of the existing software applications and related Information Technology policies and procedures. Performs testing of software processes. Troubleshoots problems within the system and works with Information Technology or software vendor to resolve issues. Assists in the identification of department needs and provides input to the Information Technology team for software design and implementation. Trains staff in proprietary or County-standard software used and prepares instructional materials for users. Coordinates computer and other equipment moves ensuring proper set-up. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.Applications will be rejected if the following information is not provided at the time of application:
  • Thoroughly documented work history
  • The application is incomplete in ANY capacity

1. a. Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field; AND

b. Have had at least one (1) year of full-time work experience in one or more of the following areas: creating and maintaining databases, systems analysis, training users on systems, systems testing, systems implementation, or systems software upgrades; OR

2. a. Possess an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, or a related field; AND

b. Have had at least three (3) years of full-time work experience in one or more of the following areas: creating and maintaining databases, systems analysis, training users on systems, systems testing, systems implementation, or systems software upgrades; OR 

3. a. Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development test; AND

b. Have had at least five (5) years of full-time work experience in one or more of the following areas: creating and maintaining databases, systems analysis, training users on systems, systems testing, systems implementation, or systems software upgrades.

4. Possess a valid motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license.

5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
