Overview

The Operations Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for assisting in the administration, planning, direction for the operations of the Complex including front and back of house services, conversion, custodial services, and equipment inventory control. This employee’s primary responsibilities include the facilitation of changeovers and the general oversight of all housekeeping.

This role will pay a salary of $37,000 to $45,000.

Flint River Entertainment Complex is owned by the City of Albany and is operated by OVG360. Located in Albany, Ga., Flint River Entertainment Complex is comprised of three venues- the Albany Civic Center, Albany Municipal Auditorium and Veterans Park Amphitheatre. Hosting live spectator events, banquet, meetings, trade shows, conference, concerts and more, Flint River Entertainment Complex prides itself on bringing quality entertainment to southwest Georgia. Responsibilities

  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of all venue and exhibition & convention spaces.
  • Select, train, schedule, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
  • Oversee the operation of event set-up and tear-down of indoor soccer/football, basketball courts, stages, expo booths, tables and chairs, etc.
  • Oversees post-event housekeeping services throughout the complex.
  • Ensure staff are working safely and are aware of proper safety guidelines.
  • Mentor / coach employees to correct deficiencies; present/discuss discipline and termination procedures in a timely fashion, work with Human Resources as required.
  • Coordinate facility arrangements with event manager, food and beverage manager, and production manager.
  • Ability to follow written instruction, interpret AutoCAD drawings and event layouts.
  • Oversee and monitor changeover and housekeeping crews, provide team support as required.
  • Communicate between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed.
  • Schedule appropriate changeover and housekeeping crew for a large group of employees accurately and efficiently and adjust/notify employees of updates/changes as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of operations equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating, basketball floor, etc.
  • Maintains departmental equipment; notify Director of Operations when repairs are needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients to provide a positive employee climate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three or more years’ experience in an operations position in an arena, convention center, public assembly facility or similar location; including event set up/breakdown, event coordination, or related field, and direct employee supervision.
  • Basic computer skills in a Windows format including typing, data entry and email.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and oral communication skills with ability to function in a multi-task environment are vital.
  • Ability to effectively operate a cell phone for phone, email, text.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team and manage in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards/requirements.
  • Forklift and aerial lift certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of employment.
  • Possess superior interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Self-motivated and excellent organizational skills.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to be punctual, maintain good attendance, and follow an assigned schedule.
  • Ability to work various hours as required, including but not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
