    About This Role
    The MS Associate Principal oversees middle school operations, focusing on improving learning experiences and academic achievement. They support the principal in daily tasks, scheduling, and summer academic planning. Additionally, they coach and develop teachers to enhance core instruction and ensure equitable access to programing. Serving as an instructional leader, they integrate curriculum delivery and social/emotional support. They play a vital role in school transformation, engaging students, staff, and the community, with a focus on equitable curriculum delivery. They facilitate smooth transitions for 5th and 8th-grade students and families. They play a vital role in supporting student supervision and conduct.
    The MS Associate Principal will incorporate the Illinois Performance Standards for School Leaders to effectively guide professional practice to ensure a positive learning environment for all students and staff as well as facilitating meaningful collaboration with families and community partners.
    The MS Associate Principal will assist and support in attracting, developing and retaining highly effective talent that can ensure universal student success and support of the district’s equity commitments as expressed in Board Policy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.
    Essential Role Responsibilities:
    • Collaborates with Middle School Administrators and building staff to create a cohesive and seamless educational journey for all students.
    • Collaborates with Middle School Administrators in the seamless integration of the Arts into the daily instructional opportunities for all students.
    • Collaborates with Middle School Administrators in the implementation and use of the Illinois Performance Standards for School Leaders.
    • Collaborates with Middle School Administrators and building staff in the operational alignment of district safety and restorative practices personnel.
    • Assists in the development of effective tools for assessing school-based team leadership capacity and providing differentiated supports that result in improved performance.
    • Assists Middle School Administrators in the development of a process to strengthen family participation and engagement that ultimately will improve family access to vital information, resources and support.
    • Assists Middle School Administrators and central office departments in the development of a system to effectively allocate instructional supports and content.
    • Collaborates with school leadership to design and lead professional development sessions for school leaders.
    • Assists in the facilitation of the creation of professional learning communities enabling best practice, sharing, and collaboration among school leaders.
    • Monitors school progress through feedback from students, parents, staff, directors, superintendent, and the Board of Education.
    • Assists in the development of long and short-term plans/programs and strategies to improve student achievement.
    • Serves on committees and participates in projects at the request of the Superintendent.
    Content Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
    • Knowledge of Illinois School Code with regard to Principal evaluation.
    • Knowledge of PERA
    • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing
      administration of personnel in the public school setting.
    • Knowledge of laws and legal standards pertaining to employee relations and human resource management.
    • Knowledge of teacher evaluation practices.
    EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Appropriate Illinois Administrative Licensure Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative endorsement.
    • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Education or a related field. Curriculum and Instruction emphasis preferred.
    • 5 years of classroom teaching experience at the middle school level.
    • Successfully completed all PERA module designations required to evaluate teachers
    • Readiness and eagerness to be available to support the district beyond the regular work day as needed
    Physical Requirements:
    This position requires the performance of light work—which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere. The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
