The Medical Assistant in senior living is responsible for providing direct support to healthcare professionals, ensuring the smooth delivery of healthcare services to residents. This role involves a combination of administrative tasks, clinical duties, and resident interaction to contribute to the overall well-being of seniors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Clinical Support:
• Assist healthcare professionals with routine medical procedures, including taking vital signs, assistance with hands on care, and performing basic medical tests.
• Provide direct care to residents as directed by physicians or nurses, ensuring comfort.
• Healthcare Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for residents, documenting vital signs, medications, and any changes in health status.
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with healthcare regulations in record-keeping.
• Resident Interaction:
• Interact with residents in a compassionate and respectful manner, addressing their healthcare concerns and providing emotional support.
• Communicate effectively with residents and their families, explaining medical procedures, care plans, and addressing inquiries.
• Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
• Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for residents.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a medical assistant training program required.
• Medical Assistant certification or Certified Nursing Assistant certification preferred.
• One year of experience in Assisted Living or Long-term care environment preferred.
• Knowledge of basic clinical procedures and medical terminology.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Compassion and empathy in dealing with elderly residents.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
