Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintains hotel, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools.
  • Replace air-conditioner filters.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.
  • May tend furnace, air-conditioner and boiler to provide heat, cool air and hot water for guests.
  • Responds to guest requests for service according to company policy.
  • Works closely with Executive Housekeeper, Front Office, and Sales team to ensure coordination of activities and AV needs.
  • Maintains a clean and safe pool area.
  • Maintains equipment with standard preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Maintains records of all equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintains files of Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Programs phone equipment according to hotel needs.
  • Observes equipment and utility meter readings daily.
  • Programs H.V.A.C. controller according to hotel schedule.
  • Maintains quality of appearance of interior and exterior of hotel.
  • Paints and stains walls, trim and doors.
  • Repairs wallpaper, carpet, formica, sheetrock and doors of hotel.
  • Keeps an orderly and well stocked inventory of finishing supplies needed in the hotel.
  • Maintains a superior quality in the guest rooms.
  • Checks operation of all guest room equipment.
  • Correct minor problems and reports major problems to Chief Engineer.
  • Keeps records of rooms completed.
  • Ensures par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies.
  • Inspects and repairs minor problems in common areas.
  • Is responsible for learning emergency procedures.
  • Is responsible for safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
  • Reports to work for scheduled shift, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Knows and complies with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Strong leadership, management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel.)
  • Ability to motivate team members to work as a team to ensure service meets appropriate OHM and brand standards.
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to challenges.

  • Demonstrating sound knowledge of all aspects of the hotel and services offered.

  • Comfortable with the high level of visibility and the leadership role with the hotel and community.

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate from a Vocational Institution and completion of apprenticeship in HVAC, plumbing and electrical repair preferred.
  • Current Driver’s License required.

Hours: 

  • Position requires flexibility to work adjusted schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. Responsible for responding to emergencies as necessary, requiring the possibility of response times occurring on nights and/or weekends.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activity of the Position:

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking/pinching with fingers, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motion.

Visual Acuity Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • Visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • Subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • May require occasional work in close quarters, crawl spaces, small enclosed rooms, and other areas that could cause claustrophobia.
  • May be required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
