Barista (Starbucks Coffee brands)

Reports To: Front Office Manager

Purpose for the Position:

The Barista will prepare Starbucks coffee, Starbucks specialty coffee drinks, and other Starbucks beverages, as well as sell a selection of a variety of select food & Eirinn’s Café Market items to guests. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Sets up and prepares work area for daily operations.
  • Welcomes guests in a friendly, outgoing manner.
  • Prepares and serves hot and cold Starbucks beverages, such as coffee, specialty coffee and blended coffee drinks, as well as other Starbucks beverages, to guests; customizing orders as requested.
  • Describes product details to customers in a friendly manner, answering guest questions.
  • Serves prepared foods and baked goods.
  • Enters Eirinn’s Café Market items and Starbucks drink orders on the Micros POS system.
  • Receives and processes customer payments.
  • Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
  • Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
  • Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
  • Follows all company policies.
  • Verbally communicates with management, fellow team members, guests, and the public in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Embraces O’Reach, Green Team, Guest Service, Team Member Satisfaction, Health & Wellness, and Safety culture.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as required. 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
  • Has the ability to multitask and manage multiple orders simultaneously, the ability to memorize and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons, all with a friendly and professional attitude.
  • Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.

Education & Experience:

  • Prior barista experience preferred, but not required.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Hospitality customer service experience preferred, but not required. 
  • Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures. 

Hours:

  • Due to the nature of the business, scheduling may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists up to 2/3 or most of the time) to move objects. 
  • May be required to lift in excess of 40 pounds on occasion.

Work Conditions:

  • Inside work environment. Not substantially exposed to adverse conditions.
