The General Winery Worker will assist in all phases of the winemaking process, as well as care, maintenance, and sanitation of all equipment and facilities. Note: This posting is for the conversion of temps currently working at O'Neill who have met their conversion threshold of 580 hours. 

Requirements

  •  Must understand and obey all safety and work rules
  •  Must read and understand work orders
  •  Gauge tanks accurately
  •  Add ingredients to wine
  •  Sluice pomace from tanks into presses 
  •  Transfer distilling material
  •  Clean up and sanitize equipment
  •  Load and offload bulk tanker trucks
  •  Mix and sample product tanks
  •  Measure solids from equipment center samples
  •  Assist Racker/Blender and Operators with building lines and wine transfers
  •  Manage effluent water application to fields
  •  Record and report effluent water applications
  •  Maintain effluent water system, sprinkler, pumps, and solids management system. 
  •  Support farming/vineyard operations. 

Qualifications

  • Must have completed 580 hours of temp work at O'Neill 
  • One to two years’ experience in wine or related industry preferred
  • Food Processing experience preferred 
  • Ability to work any shift 7 days a week
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to move and/or lift up to 50 pounds 
  • Ability to adhere to companies’ 4 core standards: Trust, Ingenuity, Forward Thinking, and Always Deliver.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: 

  • Regularly required to roll, move, and/or lift 60-gallon wine barrels when needed
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, lean, lift and squat
  • Work long hours during peak periods
  • Climb stairs
  • Must be neat and clean in appearance 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in wine cellar where temperatures are cool and noise level is usually moderate to high at times
  • Exposed to outside temperatures on a regular basis
