As a Psychiatry Triage Nurse at Nystrom & Associates, you will play a key role in providing high-quality patient-centric care to our patients in support of our Psychiatry Providers. You will work alongside other Psychiatry Triage Team Members and Psychiatry Providers to answer and return phone calls and other electronic messages from patients, parents, caregivers, and other members of the patient's care team. Triage interventions typically surround the following needs: medication refills, medication side effects, exacerbation in symptoms or presenting characteristics, and completing various forms or letters on behalf of the Psychiatry Provider. This is primarily a telephone and computer-based position, there is little to no direct patient care provided in this role. There are no weekends, evenings, or on-call hours!

Nystrom & Associates is a team of mental health professionals that specialize in psychiatric evaluations, clinical social work, and family therapy. Founded in 1991, we offer an intensive outpatient substance use disorder treatment program, psychological testing, and behavioral health and medication management services.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Consistent schedule, no evenings, overnights, or weekends.

Location: Eastern Iowa

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Answering and making phone calls and electronic messages from patients, caregivers, and other members of the patient's care team, and executing triage interventions.
• Making calls to coordinate care with patients, caregivers, and other members of the patient's care team, and executing triage interventions.
• Process medication refills, forms, letters, medical reports, laboratory orders/results, etc. per established triage workflows.
• Documenting objectively and concurrently in real-time, concisely, and completely.

Requirements:

• Unrestricted Iowa (for IA applicants) or Minnesota (for MN applicants) Nursing License. Willingness to obtain licensure for other states served, the associated costs are reimbursed by the organization.
• Comfortable using the telephone answering incoming calls and making outbound calls.
• Comfortable using electronic health record systems, typing, and documenting concurrently.
• Comfortable with little to no direct patient care.
• Experience with mental health care preferred.
