NYMG is Hiring a Fleet Manager Near Ronkonkoma, NY

NYM Group is a growing Commercial Maintenance and Construction Company. We are currently seeking a Fleet Manager.

Ronkonkoma, NY

ON SITE POSITION

A Fleet Manager is responsible for entire company fleet. Their duties include creating work schedules, managing a budget for vehicle repairs and replacements, and ensuring driver candidates receive proper training to uphold safe driving standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assign equipment/vehicles
  • Prepare equipment for jobs (snow, asphalt, landscape, etc)
  • Pick up equipment and materials.
  • Purchasing vehicles to expand and/or enhance the fleet
  • Scheduling regular maintenance on all vehicles
  • Ordering urgent or emergency repairs as needed
  • Oversee all maintenance and repair work of vehicles and equipment, including scheduling and coordinating work, and reviewing work after completion.
  • Managing vehicle licensure and registration
  • Ensuring all fleet members have proper licensure and up-to-date training
  • Pick up equipment and materials.
  • Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
  • Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
  • Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency
  • Maintains supplies and equipment by making requisitions, submitting requests for repairs, issuing supplies and equipment to staff.
  • Facilitate Safety Training
  • DOT Audits
  • Coordinating Drivers and on-staff maintenance professionals when setting employee schedules
  • Managing vehicle licensure and registration
  • Ensuring all fleet members have proper licensure and up-to-date training
  • Monitoring Drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
  • Searching for, hiring and training new Drivers
  • Providing reports to management on budgeting, schedules, maintenance and fleet progress
  • Developing methods to decrease cost and improve efficiency
  • Ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the fleet management system in place, and make changes to improve the same
  • Monitor and update all kinds of records of fleet tracking systems
  • Adhere to national, regional and company-wide rules and regulations while performing fleet management services
  • Oversee the repairs and maintenance of the vehicles by devising a sound vehicle management system
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and safety programs are being followed precisely
  • Calmly handle problems and change orders that arise
  • Report and record all accidents, work injuries and property damage complaints
  • Ensure that all jobs are completed according to contract and within budget.

Requirements

  • Construction Fleet background
  • Possess a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Emphasize and ensure job site safety, while identifying and resolving hazards promptly.
  • Be self-driven, responsible, reliable, highly organized, and capable of proactively managing daily tasks on projects.
  • Have technology skills – experience with various software (both mobile-friendly and desktop/laptop) programs, a full understanding of the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and MS Project) is required.
  • Be a proactive problem solver; team player with a positive, forward-thinking attitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, and strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with the safe operation and use of equipment. Must possess strong communication skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence, and to present information to groups of employees.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be hands on

Skills and Qualifications

  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent leadership skills, including goal-setting, motivation and training
  • Expert knowledge of best driving, delivery, vehicle maintenance and other industry practices
  • Basic math and data analysis skills
  • Familiarity with transportation scheduling and management software
  • Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
  • Ability to set and monitor a budget
  • Good problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional organization, time management and multitasking abilities
  • Keen attention to detail

Experience Requirements

  • As a managerial role, candidates should have previous relevant experience working in or with a fleet, preferably within the same industry.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanics and fleet maintenance with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Compensation: The rate for this position will vary and will be commensurate with experience

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
