POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision from the Director of Admissions, the New York Film Academy (NYFA) Admissions Assistant will provide clerical support for the Admissions Office as well as perform requested Admissions duties. The Admissions Assistant will also be the first point of contact for NYFA Los Angeles Campus incoming students and guests. Additionally, the Admissions Assistant will communicate various information regarding activities and/or response to requests as well as conduct information sessions and campus tours regularly.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.

  • Serve as a frontline resource to the Admissions Office
  • Must be comfortable with high volume calls and able to handle a high volume of requests, via email, text messages and zoom calls to provide detailed information about educational programs and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students and their families.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of our industry, programs, and policies.
  • Conduct campus tours and information sessions effectively.
  • Assistance with on-campus recruitment events.
  • Create, maintain and update reports and events as requested by the Director of Admissions.
  • Other related duties as assigned. Serve as general Administrative Support for the Director of Admissions.
  • Work a total of 5 days a week. Saturday availability required.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be friendly, outgoing, personable and able to build and foster relationships with prospective students and their families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to meet and serve the public, both in person and by phone, tactfully and effectively.
  • Understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve; relate actions and decisions to larger program goals; and respond effectively to a dynamic work environment.
  • Ethical/Honest - evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Experience may substitute for required education up to 4 years.
  • 1-2 years administrative experience in a higher education setting (admissions, recruitment, or customer service)
  • Experience in handling high volume of calls and in-person requests in an office setting.
  • Experience working in a fast pace, multi-tasking, results driven environment with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid driver's license required

ENVIRONMENTAL / ATMOSPHERIC WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Reasonable dexterity of hands and fingers to operate and/or manipulate computer keyboard and other office equipment
  • Verbally and effectively communicate utilizing face-to-face contact and telephones
  • Leading occasional walking tours of the New York Film Academy building for prospective participants lasting
  • Variable work schedule to be determined.
