POSITION SUMMARY:
NYFA Summer Programs at Harvard is looking for an organized and enthusiastic individual who demonstrates high levels of organization and a passion for engaging with filmmakers, actors, animators, and photographers and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents. The Summer Programs at Harvard include Teen Summer Camp offerings for campers aged 14-17 years old and it is the Director's responsibility to oversee and maintain the day-to-day operations. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to, scheduling and coordinating the various program offerings, staffing, and providing training, identifying standard operating procedures, assisting with setup and breakdown, and providing other logistical and operational support.
Effective Date: Part Time: April 22, 2024 to Seasonal Full Time: 06/10/2024 - 08/09/2024
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities are general duties that a particular employee in this position may or may not be required to perform. The day-to-day duties required of this position may vary.
  • Create and maintain class schedules for online and on-campus summer camps
  • Liaise with NYFA Departments at main campus locations to determine needs for summer camp staffing
  • Staff and train the various departments that make up the Summer Programs, such as the Equipment & TA Manager, Edit Lab Supervisor, Summer Program Coordinator, and Faculty
  • Determine logistical and facility needs required to facilitate the summer program offerings
  • Collaborate with Facilities, Equipment Room, and Operations teams to schedule student film projects
  • Collaborate with Teen Residential/ Activity Director and provide support on a needs basis
  • Oversee student discipline and liaise with parents when necessary
  • Determine number of class sections per program based on expected enrollment
  • Approve and review youth staff and instructors payroll biweekly
  • Oversee the build out and break down of the Summer Programs
  • Liaise with Harvard Staff to ensure the smooth running of all summer programs
  • Provide in-class instruction on a needs basis
  • Identify orientation and final screenings needs and implement
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and emails, printing materials, logging attendance, etc.
  • Maintain and update schedules per instructor's needs and availability
  • Serve as main point of contact for instructors and staff
  • Liaise with instructors to help determine classroom needs and provide follow through to ensure instructors have the tools they need to be successful
  • Develop and communicate protocols for attendance taking, requesting TAs, requesting equipment, etc.
  • Implement instructor orientation prior to the first day of camp
  • Maintain curriculum and ensure deliverables are being met program-wide
  • Other duties needed to ensure the smooth running of the Summer Programs
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
  • A solid understanding of all NYFA Teen Summer Camp programs
  • Ability to remain detailed orientated, while meeting deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for engaging with youth filmmakers and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents.
  • Ability to work hard, respond to emergencies, and always maintain the safety and educational environment for the students
  • Ability to maintain multiple projects/ tasks at a time
  • Ability to present information in front of a large group
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including students, faculty and staff
  • A strong grasp of Final Cut, Avid and Adobe Premiere
  • Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC, 5D Mark II, C300, shotgun mics, tripods, onboard shock mounts, c-stands, boom poles, etc. is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in database management and record keeping
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to meet and serve the public, both in person and by telephone, tactfully and effectively
  • Ability to work well in a team atmosphere
  • Perform basic math
  • Understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience providing technical support on film shoots and/or art events required
  • Film/Video Production Experience
  • Post Production Experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced multi-tasking results driven environment with attention to detail.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and GSuite
  • Experience and comfortability with students ages 10-17
