Position Description:
This full-time position reports to the Director of the Brooklyn/Staten Island Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinic (Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC) in the Division of Correctional Health Services. The Brooklyn/Staten Island FPECC, located in the Kings County Supreme Court Building at 320 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY, is responsible for conducting court-ordered fitness to proceed evaluations under CPL Article 730 and presentencing evaluations under CPL Article 390 for criminal defendants with cases in Kings and Richmond Counties; preparing written reports in a timely manner for submission to the Courts; and providing courtroom testimony as necessary.
Preferred Skills:
1. Education: Ph.D or Psy.D. degree
2. Valid license as a psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education
3. At least one year of full-time experience as a licensed psychologist in a supervisory capacity
4. At least four years of full-time experience practicing clinical and/or forensic psychology, including at least three years of experience in a supervisory capacity as a licensed psychologist
5. An equivalent and satisfactory combination of education and experience may be considered
Detailed Tasks:
Minimum Qualifications
For Appointment to Assignment to Level II:
1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Psychologist issued by the NYSED; or
2. Proof of passing licensing examination and proof that completed license application and all supporting documentation have been submitted to NYSED, which leads to licensure and registration, within six (6) months.
