NYACK RIDGE NURSING HOME IS LOOKING FOR A NEW DIETARY TECHNICIAN

TITLE:Diet Technician

DEFINITION: The Diet Technicians role is to assist the Director of Food Services in assessing individual nutritional needs, implementing nutritional prescriptions and providing feedback on acceptance and tolerance of nutrition therapy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nutrition is preferred.Appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of an education.
2. Must have Long Term Care experience.
3. Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
4. Knowledge of applicable State & Federal guidelines.
5. Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships, presents organizational skills, and strong computer skills.
6. Ability to perform the essential functions of this job.

7.Flexibility in work schedule and/or assignments to meet the needs of the job, unforeseen illness or other crises.

FUNCTIONS:

1. Collecting, calculating, and recording medical record nutrient intakes as necessary (Calorie count)
2. Weekly meal rounds, Resident visits on a daily basis, distribution, retrieval of residents’’ selective menus.
3. Update diets/food preferences on computer system.
4. Keep Food Service Director informed of changes in resident status, diet, or nutritional problems.
5. Update seating charts in dining rooms.
6. Attend weekly weight meeting.
7. Complete MDS in computer.
8. Complete nutritional assessments, annually and quarterly.
9. Assist with tray tickets as needed.
10. Monitor temperatures of food with test trays.
11. Attend Menu committee and complete minutes.
12. Attend care plan meetings.
13. Preform daily clerical duties in relation to menus.
14. May participate in and reinforce patient education and quality assurance monitoring.
