Job Summary and Primary Responsibilities

As a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering you will manage the planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing methods, processes, and operations for new and existing products. Ensure the effective use of materials, equipment, and personnel in producing quality products at minimum costs. Act as a liaison with engineering in releasing new products. Develop systems to maintain reports and record keeping of company products. Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads Engineers, CNC Programmers, and Engineering Technicians to deliver corporate and site goals and objectives
  • Manages Value Stream projects to deliver year-over-year improvements in quality, delivery, and cost performance
  • Assists the Value Stream Leader in establishing overall strategy and vision
  • Manages the implementation of process development projects including new machine development, sample production, tooling development, and design
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to best manufacturing practices and optimizes those processes to reduce lead times and reduce costs
  • Designs the sequence of operations and specifies a procedure for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance or assist/aid the manufacturing processes
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions and incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
  • Interfaces with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products and providing guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills / Capabilities
  • Estimate manufacturing cost, evaluates time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines
  • Manages direct staff, including attracting and developing talent to achieve strategic and tactical organizational needs
  • Knowledge of scheduling, engineering, production, quality control, and shipping functions
  • Knowledge of CNC programming, turning, milling, secondary processing, assembly, cleaning, blueprint interpretation, and GD&T
  • Knowledge of DFA/DFM best practices, including hands-on experience with Lean Six Sigma tools
Education and Experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience
  • Strong product design, manufacturing, and tool design experience
