Who You Are:

The Lab Supervisor works alongside and leads the team of scientists and technicians to collect, evaluate, test, analyze, and summarize data for raw materials, in process, and finished product samples. Timely and professional reporting of test results. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP's) is required.

What You'll Do:

  • Quality Management:

    • Establish, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 17025 standards.
    • Manage the internal audit program.
    • Coordinate laboratory accreditation activities.
    • Handle the distribution of the Quality Manual and associated documents.
    • Train personnel regarding Quality Management System activities.
    • Monitor and report on the performance of the Quality Management System to senior management for review and improvement.

    Laboratory Operations:

    • BS or MA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science degree.
    • 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in analytical or chemistry lab desired.
    • In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 standards and quality assurance principles.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Skills that allow you to influence without authority.
    • Capable of working in fast past cross-functional environment.
    • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
    • Proficient with Excel and Microsoft word.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Supervise the laboratory’s proficiency testing program.
    • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all laboratory processes.
    • Provide technical and consultative input as needed.
    • Research microbial methods and contamination prevention.
    • Develop programs for ATP sanitation, allergen screening, and air quality testing.
    • Write SOPs and test methods.
    • Lead HPLC method development and method validation/verification.

    Data Management and Analysis:

    • Manage, evaluate, and interpret analytical data.
    • Stay informed about new developments, trends, technologies, and regulations.
    • Review, approve, and authorize testing reports and/or Certificates of Analysis.

    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Provide necessary resources (personnel, equipment, supplies) for the quality program.
    • Supervise and interact with team members.
    • Ensure personnel are trained and maintain records of testing activities.
    • Determine technical training needs of personnel.
    • Prioritize workload.

    Process Improvement and Compliance:

    • Validate/verify current procedures and develop, validate/verify, and implement new procedures.
    • Determine finished product potency tests.
    • Supervise out-of-specification (OOS) investigations for raw materials and finished products.
    • Identify and prevent deviations from laboratory testing procedures.

    Equipment Management:

    • Ensure equipment is maintained and calibrated, reporting deficiencies appropriately.
    • Perform instrument installation, calibration, and qualification when applicable.

    Supplier and Customer Interaction:

    • Manage the supplier qualification program.
    • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to address raw material issues.
    • Engage with customers to assist in analytical testing requirements.
    • Assist in onboarding new customers and clarify testing protocol requests.

    Education and Scorecard Implementation:

    • Develop an education program for the sales team regarding the laboratory quality process.
