Overview

Position Summary:

Nusano has an incredible opportunity to contribute to the advances of radioisotope production for cancer treatment and diagnosis. The Radiochemist will tap into their expertise to help Nusano utilize our incomparably powerful, and extremely flexible accelerator technology to revolutionize the medical isotope field. The ideal candidate enjoys the world of medical isotope production, especially collaborating with experts on target design, radiochemical separations, and implementation of manufacturing methods in hot cells.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Provide input for strategic planning for new product lines
    • Work closely with scientific staff to evaluate technical feasibility of new products.
    • Develop, execute, and track new product plans in collaboration with Project Management Team.
    • Coordinate with safety and other experts to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements for new product development and production.
  • Develop manufacturing methods for radioisotopes produced via target irradiation using a particle accelerator
    • Design and execute experiments and analyze and interpret data.
    • Author and/or edit reports and presentations summarizing collected data.
    • Collaborate with engineers and other experts for target design, scale up from benchtop to hot cell operation, and handover to operations.
  • Collaborate with the Analytical Chemistry group
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on radiometric detectors.
    • Contribute to the selection, installation, and qualification of analytical instruments.
    • Support development and implementation of instrument operation and maintenance procedures, and user training.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in radiochemistry, nuclear engineering, inorganic chemistry or related field or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in radiological facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Chemical separation development for routine production of desired radioisotopes from irradiated targets (ion exchange chromatography, electroplating, liquid-liquid extraction etc.).
  • Analytical instrument operation and maintenance (HPGe detectors, ICP MS/OES etc.).
  • Radioactive material handling of gamma, beta and/or alpha emitters (t1/2 > 6 h) in radiological facilities (shielded glove boxes, remotely operated hot cells etc.).
  • Chemical and radiological laboratory safety (regulatory and best practices).
  • Work in facilities compliant with ICH Q7, 21 CFR 211 and/or 21 CFR 212.
  • Writing of technical documents (procedures, records, forms, experimental reports, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable working as a radiation worker.
  • Work to be conducted in both an office environment and production facility.
  • Ability to work sitting and standing for extended periods, grasping/gripping, fine motor control with hands.
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull a maximum of 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel 2-8 weeks per year for experiments, visiting vendors, and attending conferences.

Posted Salary Range

USD $100,000.00 - USD $160,000.00 /Yr.
