ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Perform routine medical procedures including blood draws, PPD placement, SQ, IM injections, vaccines, EKG, breathing treatments utilizing appropriate skills and techniques necessary to assist the health care provider in patient examination and treatments.
2. Prepare and administer medications, point of service tests, therapies, and appropriate medical treatments as prescribed by a provider.
3. Clean patient rooms between patient visits. Stock examining rooms with necessary supplies and instruments; sterilize instruments after use.
4. Ensure all office and patient care equipment is in good repair.
5. Maintain adequate level of medical supplies including patient information material. Order medical supplies, medications, and instruments as needed.
6. Competently enters all patient care information into the electronic medical health
record system, including immunizations, medications given, tests performed and results, and other information as directed.
7. Schedule patient appointments for tests/procedures as ordered by health care providers.
8. Place medication orders with pharmacy upon request by health care provider.
9. Prepare and maintain patient files, medical charts and reports related to research protocols.
10. Perform MA related work as assigned.
11. Utilize VFC, MCIR interfaces
12. Daily/ weekly/monthly inventory of VFC and private vaccinations
13. Complete monthly reporting process to VFC
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Associates degree preferred. Medical Assistant certification preferred.
BLS certified or will need certification upon hire.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
1. Ability to operate standard office equipment and EMR.
2. Ability to administer medications, tests, therapies, and treatments.
3. Good organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload and resolve operational problems.
4. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with others.
5. Some knowledge of medical terminology.
6. Ability to operate specialized patient care equipment and perform medical procedures, e.g., autoclave.
7. Ability to perform various medical procedures, e.g., obtain blood samples, take vital signs, etc.
8. Some knowledge of routine laboratory procedures used in a health care office or outpatient clinic, e.g., urinalysis, CLIA waived tests, setting up exam trays, etc.
9. Ability to utilize outlook email, calendar, and other internet applications or willing to learn.
