Renvois Care Company is Hiring a Medical Assistant - Primary Care Near Detroit, MI

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: We are looking to hire a diligent medical assistant/EMT. You will be responsible for traveling with the physican to patient homes and training administrative staff, completing orders, prescription refills, medical records, and ensuring that the practice delivers good customer service.

To be successful as a Medical Assistant/EMT, you should be highly organized, self-motivated, and have excellent interpersonal skills

REPORTS TO: Practice Manager or his/her designee

TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting; Requires bending or stooping; Requires the use of office equipment, such as computer terminal, copier, fax machine and telephone; Ability to distinguish letters or symbols; Regular, predictable attendance required; Normal corrected vision and hearing range required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in an office or remote environment; working with patients, executives, staff, medical professionals, and vendors.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following):

  • Obtain patient medical history, chart preparation, medication dosage and frequency, and patient allergens
  • Performs clinic front desk duties, including but not limited to, answering incoming telephone calls, obtaining and/or verifying patient information, coordinate, and facilitate accurate patient appointment
  • Maintain accurate and strict confidentiality of patient information in electronic and/or manual systems as established by the appropriate protocols, regulations, and policies.
  • Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Completes physician orders and facilitates specialists' care, which may result in phoning patient prescriptions.
  • Provides instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
  • Performs data entry of lab studies, radiographic tests, and authorization request in compliance with physician/nurse practitioner directives.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: EMR experience is a must. E-clinical works experience would be helpful.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

· Good verbal and written communication skills.

· Correct grammar, spelling skills, and legible writing.

· Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line phone system.

· Able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.

· Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

· Demonstrate willingness to adapt to change.

· Be able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible.

· Confident positive manner and appearance.

· A basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope

· Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills

· Familiarity with electronic medical health care record systems, MS Word, Excel, Google Suites

Education:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum Experience: One to two years of experience in a medical setting
  • Minimum Certifications: Medical assistant certification or EMT certification preferred

Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of work experience in a medical setting; experience documenting in an electronic health record.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
