Position Overview

As the Manufacturing Specialist, you will perform activities that keep the heart of the operating system at Numat running efficiently, including shipping and receiving, material purchasing, and inventory management. You will be expected to deliver professional service in support of a small but growing team without sacrificing safety or quality.

Responsibilities

Lead the shipping and receiving of all materials for Numat’s Chicago headquarters:

• Provide Mail and Package Delivery to Numat Offices
• Provide shipping services for the site:
  • Package and prepare production or research materials in accordance with all DOT/IATA regulations
  • Prepare bills of lading and coordinate pick-ups
  • Load and unload over-the-road vehicles, including loads of hazardous materials
• Review, improve, and develop procedures to ensure safe and compliant operations

Support inventory management of office, research, and manufacturing supplies:

• Organize and audit the inventory of various internal groups
• Support material purchasing as directed
• Receive and segregate chemicals, review and upload Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and update the digital chemical inventory

Support manufacturing and other compliance activities that make us run correctly and more efficiently:

• Perform quality assurance inspections of manufacturing materials
• Support limited cleaning and organizing responsibilities or special projects (5S)
• Conduct daily operational equipment checks, problem-solve, and implement corrective actions

Qualifications 

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED
• 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or logistics position preferred
• 1-3 years of experience shipping dangerous goods (HazMat) strongly preferred
• Forklift experience preferred
• Able to demonstrate basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to stand, walk, sit, and climb or balance. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Must be able to wear respiratory protection (e.g., N95, half-face air-purifying respirator) as needed
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance
