Industrial Estimator

(This is not a remote position and requires estimator to be on project sites and team offices daily)

This growing national multi-trade industrial contractor is looking to hire key team members for their expanding Augusta, Georgia operations. Our client is a unique Industrial Engineering, Design and Construction company. It's unique in that the founders wanted to provide multi-disciplined services to the industrial, utility, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors of today's markets where no project is insignificant regardless of size. Construction (Self Perform Capabilities) Engineering (All disciplines) Maintenance (Site based operations) Site & Shutdown Services (All Industries)
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in industrial estimating, preferably within the industrial construction industry
Consistent and stable work history
Experience with takeoff and bidding software to include HeavyBid
Hands on management of the estimating process from start to finish
Scope development by walking and reviewing jobs firsthand with clients to understand clients’ needs and build estimates based on understanding
Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and costs.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to safety
Responsibilities:
Pre-construction:
Review project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand project scope and requirements.
Conduct takeoffs to determine the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for the project.
Research and obtain quotes from vendors and subcontractors for materials, labor, and equipment.
Analyze project risks and develop contingency plans.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, including breakdowns of material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
Bidding and Negotiation:
Develop and submit competitive bids for projects.
Negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors.
Respond to bid inquiries and clarifications from clients.
Project Execution:
Monitor project progress and track against the estimate.
Analyze cost variances and identify potential cost overruns.
Prepare change orders and cost estimates for project changes.
Communicate cost updates and potential risks to project stakeholders.
Maintain project cost records and documentation.
Additional Skills (preferred):
Experience with project management software
Understanding of relevant building codes and regulations.
Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
