JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting the Plant Manager, individual supervises and coordinates activities of production workers in the turret punch/laser department. May also engage in the same production work as the workers (employees and temporary workers) supervised.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Responsible for the supervision of workers, processes, equipment, safety and housekeeping in the department.
· Ensure safety is implemented into daily work activities.
· Aid workers in the interpretation of specifications and assign their duties.
· Establish departmental work instructions and ensure compliance.
· Periodically inspect and verify parts to ensure conformance to customer specifications.
· Ensure maintenance of quality data to meet process requirements.
· Validate raw material sheets requisitions and inspect delivered material, as needed.
· Study production schedules and provide status reports, as required.
· Establish and adjust work activities to meet production schedules, using knowledge of department capacities.
· Ensure workers maintain accurate counts of parts; attach labels or tags to finished part containers identifying customer, part number, quantities and shop order information.
· Oversee the utilization of the data collection system regarding accurate recording of production activities including time spent, quantity produced and any rejected parts as well as basic attend-in and attend-out transactions.
· Review and implement changes to department procedures to promote continuous improvement.
· Report regularly, if required, on key metrics as determined by Management.
· Review worker’s performance by completing performance appraisals and recommend personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.
· Identify training needs for workers and recommend training programs.
· Train new staff on job responsibilities, procedures and work Instructions.
· Resolve or facilitates staff work problems or concerns.
· Perform all job functions to meet acceptable quality and performance standards.
· Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate job activities.
· Follow all safety procedures and wears safety equipment or apparel as required.
· Ensure on a daily basis that the department is clean and orderly including machines, tooling and workstations.
May be required to follow other job-related instructions and duties, as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
Requirements
· Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing related education or work experience.
· Minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience.
· Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
· Good mathematical aptitude.
· Working experience with programming and operating automated turret punch, fiber laser equipment and material retrieval systems
· Experience using CAD software - SolidWorks and NC Express
· Basic computer literacy with the ability to perform tasks within company’s ERP system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bilingual (English/Spanish)
· Experience working with Prima Power and Trumpf equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Exert 50 pounds of force occasionally and 25 pounds of force frequently.
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to communicate with others and accommodation as required to listen to equipment and monitor paging system.
· Accommodation as required for reading documents, prints, computer screens, and quality instruments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility. Active work that primarily involves walking, standing, bending and lifting.
