POSITION: Development Director
REPORT TO: Executive Director
TIME/STATUS: Full Time 0.8 FTE with potential to increase hours in 6-12 months if desired
LOCATION: Hybrid: Primarily based in our Canby office, but a portion of this job can also be done remotely if desired. This position also requires off-site meetings with donors and community partners.
About Us:
Over the past 35 years, Neurotherapeutic Pediatric Therapies, Inc (“Neuro”) has grown from a small family-run occupational therapy clinic in Oregon City to a non-profit organization with 8 multidisciplinary clinics across the state of Oregon. We serve families and children with special needs by offering occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, mental health therapy, and naturopathic medical care; together we provide more than 3000 client visits each month. Part of what drives our success and growth as an organization is our support of employees pursuing passion projects and professional goals, as well as our desire to creatively meet the ever changing needs of our community. Many employees, as well as client families, have chosen to be a part of our Neuro “family” for over a decade.
About the Role:
  • The Development Director collaborates with the Executive Director to develop and execute the annual fundraising strategy. This involves raising funds from diverse avenues including corporate sponsorship, fundraising events, and private donors, as well as working collaboratively with our grant writer and helping with grant management after funds are awarded.
  • Job responsibilities:
    • Creating and overseeing the implementation of a strategic and diverse fundraising program to raise at least 7% of the annual budget (or approximately $450,000) in the first year of employment, including funds raised from annual appeals, campaigns, events, in-kind donations, matching gifts, and grants. This builds on fundraising efforts that have totaled approximately 5% of the annual budget in previous years at this organization.
    • Helping donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through relationships with Neuro and its two DBA’s - Medford Children’s Therapy and Grow with Nature Consulting. This is done by participating in each step of the donor pipeline, including research, identification, cultivation, briefing, requests for support, prompt follow-up, stewardship, and recognition.
    • Working alongside our marketing team and contract grant writer to support effective campaigns and grant proposals that are mission-driven and align with fundraising efforts.
    • Representing Neuro at community events and building community partnerships that are mutually beneficial.
    • Assisting with board development and partnering with the BOD as well as other staff members at our organization in order to steward commitments and leverage relationships that expand Neuro’s impact.
    • Contributing to organizational progress and growth with an eye for diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in all aspects of the funding strategy.
About You:
  • You are an enthusiastic, motivated, and organized individual who is driven to do work that positively impacts the lives of those in greatest need.
  • You have an understanding of various fund development techniques and strategies, as well as established relationships with other organizations and potential donors in the region.
  • You are a fast learner, can take initiative and work independently, and also know when to ask for help.
  • You are a direct and clear communicator, and see feedback and accountability as essential aspects of success.
  • You have exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills and the ability to distill information into succinct messaging for a variety of audiences.
  • You value honesty and ethical business practices, and are inspired to support the equitable delivery of therapy services to families from diverse backgrounds and with varying healthcare needs.
  • You have a proven ability to set goals strategically and achieve them, and can effectively interact and influence philanthropic leaders.
  • You are someone who finds joy in working on a team, and can find creative (and sometimes even playful) ways to connect with colleagues and accomplish shared goals.
  • You are willing to advocate for your needs such that this position is a sustainable, long-term role that supports you both personally and professionally.
  • You are willing and able to work evenings and weekends for events, donor meetings, and other department functions, and have reliable transportation for out-of-office travel.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience, success, and progressive responsibility in fundraising with a minimum of three (3) years of experience.
  • Familiarity with Bloomerang or similar donor management database system.
  • Proficiency with tech platforms including Google programs (docs, forms, calendar, etc), Zoom, and Microsoft Office.
  • A pre-employment background check is required once a job offer has been made
  • Ability to meet OHA vaccination mandate requirements
