An Account Executive will be tasked with building the sales of NRG product offerings through various market segments in the region. While creating a direct relationship with existing and new customers,

the Account Executive will also work internally with other sales and origination teams in offering them commodity products and energy services.

The primary objectives for this role are to initiate and qualify new prospects, make sales calls/visits, sell the full value of NRG products and services, and to maintain strong business relationships with customers identified and assigned. This will be key to the development of this territory through multiple market segments.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of agreed upon sales targets as it relates to the sale of NRG products and services to various market segments.
  • Development of territory specific sales strategies directed toward maximizing company objectives and goals.
  • Create new business through organized in person and technology driven prospecting to increase NRG Business market penetration.
  • Maintaining and developing relationships with direct customers.
  • Remaining current on the regional competition and market conditions
  • Ability to communicate with senior managers about business challenges and expectations of the Account Executive
  • Utilize CRM (SFDC) and other provided technology as necessary.
  • Maintain a strong sales pipeline with specific opportunity information.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong presentation, PowerPoint, Excel, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others within the sales function, as well as across functions including Marketing, Sales Operations, Systems implementations, Credit, and Product development
Working Conditions:
  • Open office environment 1-2 days per week.
  • Up to 50% travel requirement to establish and maintain customer/broker business.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in direct / outside sales and marketing consultative selling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ideal candidate will have an established network of large commercial or industrial accounts in the electric utility or natural gas industry and will reside within the area.
  • Strong commercial skills and proven "hunter" that identifies and closes sales opportunities.
  • Knowledge of the changing power/gas market landscape and the impact of renewables and other key market fundamentals.
  • Ability to analyze data and make insights for customers that challenge the way they think about energy procurement.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships across organizational levels
  • Can easily grasp product offerings and customer needs to develop opportunities for NRG and solutions for customers.
  • Positive professional demeanor and appearance to act as a positive representative of the company in front of clients and in the local business community, as needed.

  • Strong negotiating and closing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and without direct supervision.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and follow-through skills.
  • Self-directed and able to learn business and new products quickly.
