Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by serving as the primary subject-area experts overseeing the content and delivery of the MSN Education and Leadership tracks, as well as the core course offerings for all MSN tracks offered by the Norwich University School of Nursing (SoN). Major responsibilities include oversight of the education of students in the track, curriculum development for the program track including course outcomes, evaluation metrics for assessments, oversight of student practicum experience hours, and participation in assigned on-campus activities as scheduled.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the day-to-day operations of the MSN Nursing Education track, Health Systems Leadership track, and the MSN core courses.
  • Works closely with the MSN Programs Coordinator and Director to facilitate the day-to-day delivery of their designated nursing track (or tracks, as assigned), and support the CGCS course developers and instructional designers in the development of curriculum.
  • Support the School's leadership team to develop nationally focused practicum experiences to meet professional nursing accreditation standards, guidelines, and practice competencies all in alignment with the Norwich University mission and values.
  • Supervises Adjunct Faculty in the track.
  • Teaches at least one course per term in the MSN track of your specialization.
  • Oversees practicum experience placement in collaboration with the Clinical Placement Coordinator.
  • Oversees and act on admissions files, progression policies, and processes.
  • Leads specialty focus area specialty planning processes.
  • Evaluates the program and student outcomes.
  • Provides curriculum oversight to ensure courses and content are current, relevant, and aligned with MSN competencies, industry standards, and employment opportunities.
  • Monitors and reports on accreditation standards.
  • Supports curriculum development, revisions, and evaluations.
  • Supports the accreditation process for the MSN program.
  • Supports academic and clinical partnerships to further the mission of the program.

Other Functions

  • Assesses the performance of direct reports and provides frequent feedback to optimize their performance.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.
  • Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
  • Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
  • Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
  • Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Master of Science in Nursing required; terminal degree in Nursing (PhD or DNP) preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience at either the undergraduate or graduate nursing level.
  • Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) required. Advanced Excel or database experience is helpful.
  • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus.
  • Work some evening or weekend hours.
  • Travel as needed (public or private transportation)

  • Indoor work at a computer workstation
  • Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
