    Job Summary
    This position, under the general guidance of the Human Resources Director and Legal Counsel, applies an understanding and knowledge of legal concepts and processes to assist in the more efficient operations of Human Resources.

    Duties and Responsibilities/ Legal Assistant:
    • Monitor grievance filings, create files, and schedule hearings.
    • Attend hearings to support attorneys and the Executive Director of Human Resources.
    • Intake, review, and collaborate on Freedom of Information Act requests with Legal Counsel.
    • Review and redact responses to Freedom of Information Act requests.
    • Identify relevant electronic data for litigation and collaborate with Legal Counsel for categorization, maintenance, and distribution.
    • Review and organize case files, including correspondence, pleadings, and evidence.
    • Track employee relations matters, lawsuits, arbitration cases, legal documents, investigations, and related matters.
    • Draft and submit internal investigations correspondence.
    • Schedule and coordinate interviews and meetings for internal investigations.
    • Collect, review, and draft legal documents and correspondence.
    • Manage and organize caseloads and multiple assignments effectively.
    • Assist Legal Counsel in drafting and reviewing updates to legal documents, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
    • Copy, file, and maintain Union contracts and agreements.
    • Organize and maintain files related to Union and Employee matters.
    • Provide comprehensive administrative support to management and the department.
    • Perform other duties as requested and assigned
    Duties and Responsibilities/ Human Resources Coordinator:
    • Update and maintain the calendar for the Executive Director of Human Resources/Legal Counsel and the Assistant Legal Counsel.
    • Ensure accurate maintenance and filing of personnel records, along with the procurement and management of necessary office supplies.
    • Compose confidential letters and reports independently.
    • Assist in preparing and timely dissemination of district schedules, including holidays, vacation, and summer schedules.
    • Assist in compliance with deadlines.
    • Prepare budgets, purchase orders, and invoices.
    • Identify relevant electronic data for litigation and collaborate with Legal Counsel to categorize, maintain, organize, store, and distribute such data.
    • Attendi, document, and maintain files for union consultation meetings and all meetings related to Human Resources.
    • Perform additional duties as requested and assigned
    Additional Working Conditions:
    Incumbents typically perform their work in offices. The work does require repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, and writing. The work does not normally involve significant physical effort, but does involve the occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling office supplies or equipment up to a maximum of 45 pounds. Incumbents may have to travel to school buildings and/or public sites for meetings. Reasonable accommodation will be made for incumbents and candidates with physical limitations.

    Required Qualifications:
    Skills /Abilities and Knowledge
    • Proficiency with Microsoft software, such as Office Suite, Teams, Frontline, and Munis
    • Takes initiative to learn technological platforms
    • High degree of confidentially is a must
    • Knowledge of legal language and principles, internal research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
    • Experience working in a high-paced environment
    • Experience in working independently
    Education/Certification:
    Bachelor's Degree required with a Liberal Arts focus

    Related Work Experience:
    5 years Human resources, legal assistant, or equivalent work experience

    Days: Monday - Friday
    Salary: 77,000 - 87,000 commensurate with experience and education
