Norton Sound Health Corporation is Hiring an Itinerant Community Health Aide $20k Bonus Near Nome, AK

Purpose of Position:
The Community Health Aide/Practitioner is responsible for providing acute, chronic, emergency, and preventive medical health care to rural residents under the direction of the medical doctors in Nome and according to the CHA/P Manual. This job requires travel to 15 villages served by NSHC. The CHA III, CHA IV and/or Practitioner are expected to operate at a level consistent with training/certification, acute, chronic, emergency and preventive care to village residents according to the CHA/P Manual under the direct supervision of the NSHC medical staff and/or the standing orders authorized by VHS Medical Director.

Essential Functions:
  • Successful completion of minimum of Session III of CHA training program and certified by the CHAPCB
  • Provide care effectively and efficiently in a manner consistent with the directives established by the health aide training program
  • Carry out the medical regime and discharge plan for each patient as prescribed by the physician
  • Gather the collection of information, accurately documenting it, demonstrating adherance with the CHA/P process to promote patient outcomes and ensure completion and submission of all required reports and forms accurately
  • Prepare and send laboratory tests, according to established procedure to NSHC for analysis when requested by a medical doctor or in accordance with the CHA/P manual and maintain waived standards as required by JCAHO
  • Administer medications accurately under a medical doctor’s approval and participate in monthly audits of controlled substances and record results appropriately
  • Perform necessary screening and/or other medical/administrative procedures needed for patient care.
  • Perform all duties of subordinate staff for which qualified in the absence of staff member
  • Meet or exceed FTE hours agreed upon. i.e. PT75, PT625
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
  • Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazrd or other harmful substances
  • Minimal travel required (less than 25% of the time), Itinerant travel 50 – 75% of the time.

  • Travel is done using snowmobile, all terrain vehicle, or boat
