Mount Mary University is Hiring an Assistant Director of Residence Life - FT Near Milwaukee, WI

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Residence Life develops a vibrant residential community with emphasis on sense of belonging. Reporting to the Director of Student Life, this position is responsible for undergraduate, graduate, and family housing.

Mount Mary University is an ethnically rich and culturally diverse campus community with continued success in serving students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. This position provides a unique opportunity for a professional to contribute meaningfully to the institution's priorities around community through the lens of equity and inclusion.

This position has a live-on apartment if desired but is not required.

Residential Living Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-today operations of a residential community comprised of approximately 275 students with a primary focus on sense of belonging and student success including logistics, programming, and relationship building.
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student and professional staff; 7 Resident Assistants, 2 Graduate Assistants, and student workers.
  • As a member of the Student Life Team, collaborate with residence life staff, the Assistant Director of Student Engagement, the Director of Student Life, and other campus constituents to facilitate outcomes based on programming that aligns with the University's mission and identity.
  • Collaborate with Public Safety, who serves as the primary 'on-call' staff for residence life, to maintain a safe living and learning environment for students in residence.
  • Enforce all University policies and procedures, respond to crisis situations, and act as a conduct hearing officer.
  • Manage contracts, housing assignments, and room changes via StarRez software and collaborate with Buildings and Grounds on facilities management.
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Higher Education or equivalent
  • Professional student affairs/residence life experience required
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting inclusiveness and cultural competence
  • Exceptional ability to multitask and prioritize projects
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse groups, facilitate group processes, and foster collaborative decision making

Physical Demands:

  • May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must reach, bend, stoop, lift
  • Must sit, walk, or stand
  • Some repetitive motion may be required

  • Varying workflow; sometimes stressful with high workload times of the year
