Northwest Florida Community Hospital is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Chipley, FL

Job Summary

The Facilities Technician I will perform routine maintenance duties. The Facilities Technician I will ensure that the facility and property are clean, safe, secure and functioning at optimum efficiency. This is an entry-level role within Facilities Management. While this role may work with journeyman electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and/or mechanics, the duties of this role do not require journeyman skill sets and/or certifications. Facilities Technicians are also responsible to complete assigned safety checks and adhere to all safety regulations and practices. Fulfills other assigned responsibilities, duties and tasks of them not specifically listed within this job description and as directed by employee supervisor.

Reports to: Director of Plant Operations

FLSA Non-exempt

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm

Job Requirements

Minimum education

High school diploma or equivalent - required

Minimum work experience

One (1) year of experience in general building maintenance, basic grounds keeping, and/or within a specific trade (carpenter, electrical, HVAC, plumbing) preferred

Required skills

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to insure appropriateness and continuity of care for the patients of NFCH.

Licenses

Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily equipment checks.
  • Maintain all tools and test equipment in good, working order.
  • Pick up supplies from local vendors.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all required equipment.
  • Fabricate parts needed that is not commercially available.
  • Knows and follows facility and department safety policies at all times.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required
  • Keeps accurate record of reports, PM's, etc.
  • Responsible for minor repairs to equipment, structures, and environmental systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles including cleaning, checking fluids, battery, lights, lubrication and general overall condition.
  • Check and repair / replace and mount televisions.
  • Change filters on all heating and cooling units. Clean and maintain equipment rooms and Shop areas.
  • Maintaining all individual PTAC units.
  • Maintain and clean all ice machines and associated equipment.
  • Ensures that parking areas, walkways, stairways, entryways or other high traffic areas are safe and clear of debris, leaves, snow/ice or other items that may prevent hazards to patients and customers. This may involve picking up trash, removing trash/debris, sweeping, blowing leaves, or power washing as appropriate to the area
  • Replace all burned-out LED, incandescent and fluorescent lamps.
  • Make minor repairs to nurse call system.
  • Replace broken belts on air handling unit and exhaust fans as needed.
  • Reset and check out tripped circuit breakers in electrical panels.
  • Acknowledge and reset fire alarm system.
  • Keep all sink drains, toilet and roof drains open.
  • Repair leaking valves and faucets.
  • Retrieve and repair patient electrical and mechanical beds and related equipment.
  • Repair wheelchairs.
  • Replace or repair electrical plugs, switches, receptacles and fluorescent light ballast.
  • Assist in construction projects, as duties require, i.e. painting, patching or demolition.
  • Assist with moving of office furnishings.
  • Replace ceiling tiles as needed.
  • Keep a daily log updated at all times.
  • Documents all information required by preventive maintenance program.
