Northwest Community Healthcare is Hiring a MRI Technologist, Full time, Nights Near Arlington, IL

Shift: Full time, Nights, Weekend as neededReporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the Manager and the Team Facilitator and under the direction of the radiologists, performs MRI procedures with minimal supervision; documents procedures and maintains patient records; maintains patient safety.
  • Performs all established MRI imaging procedures; selects proper technique protocols.
  • Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures; uses immobilization devices, as required.
  • Processes and develops images per established procedures.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient. Involves family/guardian in plan of care and conducts patient and family education, as appropriate, considering the developmental needs of the patient.
  • Retrieves medications that are not controlled substances.
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work environment.
  • Performs established calibration and quality control procedures to assure optimal quality of MRI equipment and service; notifies supervisor of unusual findings.
  • Participates in maintaining appropriate patient and operational records consistent with the main Radiology Department.
  • Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and by reading professional journals; provides input and suggestions regarding technological improvements in MRI services.
  • Attends inservices and technical meetings, as required.

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic
Resonance Imaging Technologists) registered as an MR technologist, ORARRT registered and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, ORAssociate degree or bachelor degree in allied health field, and Certification in another clinical imaging field (such as ARDMS or NMTCB), and 6 months supervised MRI clinical scanning experience, ORPerforming MRI prior to and continuously since October 1996, and evaluated by responsible physician to assure competence.
  • One year MRI experience is preferred; expertise in transverse anatomy.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be anxious or confused and to interact with physicians and other hospital staff.
  • The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and computer codes based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors.
  • The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures and inform patients regarding procedures.
