Northwest Agriculture Business Center is Hiring a Project Manager Near Mount Vernon, WA

Background:

NABC is a private nonprofit based out of Mount Vernon that serves the agricultural community in western Washington. Our mission is to inspire success, foster cooperation, and advance the economic vitality of agriculture in rural western Washington by providing expertise, resources, and business technical services to agricultural enterprises. Our core competencies include helping clients access capital through

USDA and other grants and conventional products, and the delivery of services such as:

  • Business Technical Services
  • Organizational Development
  • Infrastructure Development
  • Market Development

Our full suite of services is available in both English and Spanish, and our Latinx Business Development program has demonstrated success in serving the Latinx community in an effective and authentic manner.

Position Description:

This individual will be responsible for managing projects in northwest Washington for NABC. This region includes, but is not limited to King, Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom, Island, and San Juan Counties. Project management generally involves hands-on technical support in the areas of access to market, access to capital, organizational development, and infrastructure development. The project manager will work with producers and ag-related businesses to assist in identifying and quantifying opportunities, challenges and obstacles to success, and developing, implementing, and supporting, the ongoing implementation of solutions related to business development.

Project manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with regional public and private agencies, organizations, and entities. Project manager will leverage collaborative relationships to create positive results which will directly advance the agricultural economy.

Experience creating and implementing business plans for agriculture-related business is required.

Experience with grant writing is strongly preferred. A background that includes a working knowledge of regional financial and educational support organizations would be beneficial. Candidate must be a self-motivated individual that requires minimal supervision.

This position will work from an office located in Mt. Vernon with remote work options.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with business financial and operational planning and management
  • Experience working with a diverse group of spirited stakeholders
  • Experience working with public and private organizations
  • Skilled at creating and sustaining businessrelationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Veterans of armed forces and BIPOC communities
  • Experience with successful grant writing, administration, and reporting
  • Experience with USDA agricultural programs or equivalent

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide strong leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of projects
  • Provide business planning expertise and financial evaluations
  • Cooperate with private, county, state, federal, and other organizations and agencies to

deliver, strengthen, or extend NABC programs

  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in subject matter field by participating in training,

research, and professional activities

  • Utilize electronic mail, the internet and other technology to serve the needs of clients and to communicate with NABC staff and others
  • Collaborate as a team for planning, implementing, and evaluating NABC programs
  • Personal mobility/transportation required
  • Flexible working hours required; position requires a limited amount of evenings and weekends

This is a salaried exempt position based in northwest Washington, and reports to the Executive Director. Candidate will work independently with regular periodic interaction with staff. This position is not responsible for managing people and will work directly with the Executive Director to set priorities and manage expectations.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 40 per week
