We are seeking a part-time (.6 - .8 FTE) Massage Therapist to join our Lakewood Clinic!
Hours: Monday - Thursday, 24-32 hours/week.
Position Summary:
The massage therapist will treat patients by using touch to manipulate muscles and other soft tissue of the body. Goal is to relieve pain, help heal injuries, improve circulation, relieve stress, and aid in the general wellness of the patient. The massage therapist will work collaboratively with a well-established chiropractic practice.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Provide 30- to 90-minute massages.
- Build a massage therapy patient panel.
- Work with other Health Center professionals (chiropractor, physician, nurse practitioner, mental health therapists, dentists, dental hygienists) as needed in order to develop treatment plans for clients including referrals as appropriate.
- Design sessions around patent’s or provider’s specific complaints or problem areas.
- Listen to patients during massages and adjust technique to meet their needs.
- Assess the patient's soft tissue condition, joint quality and function, muscle strength, and range of motion.
- Document health histories and any problems with stress and/or pain in order to determine whether massage would be helpful.
- Develop and propose client treatment plans that specify which types of massage are to be used.
- Utilize usual and customary massage therapy techniques in order to provide courses of treatment for medical conditions and injuries or wellness maintenance.
- Consult with other Health Center professionals (chiropractor, physician, nurse practitioner, mental health therapists, dentists, dental hygienists) as needed in order to develop treatment plans for clients including referrals as appropriate.
- Maintain treatment records.
- Provide patients with guidance and information about techniques for postural improvement, stretching, strengthening, relaxation and rehabilitative exercises.
- Recommend complementary aids, such as wet compresses, ice, and whirlpool baths in order to promote patient recovery, relaxation and well-being.
- Maintain a work area in a neat orderly and organized manner.
- Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization in all interactions.
- Report to work as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Level of Completed Education:
High school diploma or equivalency required.
Graduate of an accredited massage therapy program with a minimum of 600 hours of training in massage therapy required.
Prior years of experience in similar role: 3 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist preferred.
Experience with systems, computer applications/software: Electronic health record experience, EPIC preferred. Microsoft Word or Google Docs is preferred.
Required Licensure/Cert/Credentials:
- Current and valid WI license for massage therapy/bodywork therapy
- CPR Certified or the ability to become CPR certified upon hire
- Proof that the applicant passed an approved nationally-administered entry-level competency assessment examination. The following are approved national examinations:
- National Certification Examinations of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB)
- National Certification Commission of Acupuncture Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)
- The Federation of State Massage Therapy Board's (FSMTB) Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx)
