General Description:
Northern Virginia Community College’s (NOVA) Email Marketing Specialist will work to advance the institution’s enrollment efforts through the successful execution of strategic email and SMS campaigns. The Email Marketing Specialist will report to the Associate Director of Enrollment Marketing and work closely with marketing peers to develop, implement, evaluate and evolve enrollment strategies, processes and materials and serve as a liaison between student service areas.
Duties and Tasks:
  • The Email Marketing Specialist will work creatively and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to devise, craft, package and deliver marketing communications that support the NOVA brand direction and achieve the enrollment goals and priorities of the college.
  • Facilitate the organization, design, execution, testing and evaluation of communications to reach a broad range of target audiences;
  • Help develop strategies to plan and determine the effectiveness of recruitment and yield activities
  • Create content and direct associated creative work.
  • Assist in planning email strategy and content through Salesforce.org (CRM) and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Primary point of contact for CRM as it relates to Marketing’s lead nurture strategies and campaigns. Leverage HTML abilities to transform text-based content and provided images into responsive, personalized, and dynamic email communications.
  • Own the deployment process for assigned communications, collaborating with team members from different parts of the organization to keep campaigns moving through tight deadlines
  • The Specialist will serve as the internal expert for Marketing’s customer relationship management system, using data to drive decision-making and advise Marketing and Student Affairs accordingly.
  • In addition, this position analyzes the effectiveness of recruitment and retention campaigns and assists with service recommendations and problem resolution.
Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

  • Ability to work with diverse and complex audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written abilities.
  • Familiarity with project management processes.
  • Ability to supervise multiple activities simultaneously.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in marketing, communications, or business .
  • Experience managing the development, coordination and implementation of a strategic marketing plan.
  • Experience developing and executing a marketing funnel.
  • Experience of CRM system(s)
Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education, especially admissions and enrollment.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience with HTML and email coding.
  • Experience writing AMPscripts and SQL queries.
