Northern State University, home to Wolves athletics, which?sponsors 15 NCAA Division II intercollegiate varsity sports that compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NSIC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our successful volleyball coaching staff as an Assistant Coach.

The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop and implement the volleyball program, provide individual and team coaching during practices and games, and contribute to the overall success of the program.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing practice sessions, including drills, conditioning, and skill development.
  • Provide coaching and instruction to student-athletes during practices and games, focusing on technique, strategy, and teamwork.
  • Serve as the Wolves volleyball defensive coordinator
  • Act as director for Wolves volleyball summer camps
  • Assist with scouting opponents and developing game plans.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts by identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes, communicating with recruits and their families, and assisting with campus visits.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with other members of the coaching staff and athletic department to promote the program and uphold institutional values.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as scheduling, travel arrangements, and equipment management.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in a related field.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues, student-athletes, and administrators.
  • Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.

  • Playing experience at the collegiate level.
