Northern Inyo Healthcare District is Hiring a Mammography - X-RAY Lead Near Bishop, CA

The Mammography / X-Ray Lead (The Lead) is a Registered Radiologic Technologist with an additional registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Mammography. The Lead will assist the Diagnostic Imaging Manager with clinical and technical practices within the Mammography Department and any area where X-Rays and Fluoroscopy are performed. The Lead has ultimate accountability to ensure that NIDH Breast Imaging practices and X-Ray/ fluoroscopic practices comply with all State, Federal, Joint Commission, and MQSA guidelines. This position will perform clinically within any department where their competency has been established. In addition to the clinical role, the Lead is responsible for the technical functioning of all equipment within their area of responsibility which includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that maintenance and quality control records comply with regulatory guidelines, troubleshooting and resolving any quality control anomalies that arise, collaborates with the medical staff to ensure protocols and procedures are best practice and follow ALARA requirements, and that all staff that work within their modalities are trained and deemed competent to perform their job. In conjunction with Medical Staff review, this position is responsible for ensuring that all Outpatient exams ordered within their areas of responsibility are reviewed and are appropriate for the reason the exam is being ordered. This position is responsible for ensuring, where applicable, that ACR accreditation is maintained. The Lead conducts hospital business in an ethical and lawful manner and is willing to report any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse according to the NIH Compliance Code of Conduct, abides by the NIHD Personnel, Payroll Policies and Procedures, and Abides by Departmental Policies and Procedures, and standards of performance and conduct.

JobRelationships:

  • Directly responsible to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging Services
  • Works closely with Diagnostic Imaging technical and clerical staff
  • Works closely with Radiologists and other Medical Staff

Occupational Hazards:

Works in the general hospital setting. May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues as well as patients in varying stages of infectious states.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • The Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Inyo Healthcare District
  • NIHD policies and procedures, including Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality standards
  • NIHD safety policies and procedures, including the Rainbow Chart, Employee Health, and Infection Prevention standards

Skills/Abilities to:

  • Maintains production and quality of Exams by following established standards and departmental policies and procedures
  • Respects and maintains patient privacy to the greatest extent possible by consistently draping / covering patient during transport and testing.
  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties through thorough explanations of procedures and answering all patient questions
  • When Requested, assists Radiologists with fluoroscopic, interventional, and/or diagnostic procedures within modalities where employee is registered and/or licensed
  • Competent to perform all hospital exams and operate all hospital equipment within modalities where employee is registered, licensed, or otherwise deemed competent to function within the modality
  • Competent with the use of sterile technique
  • Utilize RIS/PACS and EHR competently
  • As required, ensures the performance of daily quality control of hospital equipment within modalities where employee has responsibility
  • Attends education and training as required by the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging
  • Maintain cleanliness and preparedness of imaging areas
  • Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by following ALARA principles at all time
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels as well as the public
  • Develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Radiologic Technologist in an acute care setting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a Mammography / Breast Imaging Practice

Education:

  • Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology


Certification:

  • Registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Registered as a Mammography Technologist by the ARRT
  • Licensed by the State of California as a Mammography Technologist

Preferred:


Experience:

  • Successful experience applying for and receiving ACR accreditation in areas of responsibility
  • Successful experience completing the State of California / MQSA annual survey
  • Minimum of two years of successful experience assisting management by completing requirements for accreditation and licensure for mammography services


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an allied health or Business related field
