Northern Construction Service LLC is Hiring a Financial Controller Near Palmer, MA

Northern Construction Service, LLC is an employee owned, heavy civil contractor specializing in bridge construction, site work, marine construction, concrete work, utilities, and much more. We are seeking a Financial Controller to act as a direct resource for the Chief Financial Officer. The company located in Central Massachusetts with a satellite office in Eastern Massachusetts is a professional, hard-working, results driven environment involving constant interaction with various professionals, management, and employees. Responsibilities

Accounting, Audit and Control

  • Lead month-end financial reporting, including annual financial statements, as well as oversee Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Process Improvements
  • Collaborate with 4 Accounting professionals on reporting and work to streamline finance and accounting process
  • Improve control documentation, self-risk assessments, and the remediation for identified control gaps
  • Oversee various federal and state tax filings
  • Create technical guidance under US GAAP for internal and external stakeholders

Financial Analysis and Reconciliation

  • Work with the CFO on financial analysis and modeling, business data analysis, and all other financial aspects
  • Assume analytical leadership and coordinate analytical efforts across multiple teams within the organization
  • Support the financial integrity process in validating internal and external reports to identify data discrepancies
  • Work with other teams within the organization to ensure successful deployment of new programs, software, systems, and process
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting - Candidates with relevant working experience in lieu of a degree will be considered
  • 10 years’ experience working in finance; 5 years' experience in a direct financial accounting role, or 5 years overall work experience in public accounting
  • Experience working with Executive Management and Operational Professionals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to anticipate financial issues, assess business implications, act proactively, and recommend an appropriate action plan
  • Certified Public Accountant or other advance professional certification
  • Construction industry experience a plus
  • SQL or Foundation Software (“ERP”) knowledge a plus

Position will be on-site for first 6 to 9 with consideration for hybrid thereafter.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
