SUMMARY: Results-oriented School Business Manager with expertise in overseeing all accounting functions
in the business office, including accounts payable, payroll, human resources, and general ledger. Proficient in
managing student financial records, reconciling monthly bank statements, and generating financial
statements. Experienced in hiring and supervising staff, maintaining faculty and student files, and ensuring
budget controls. Adept at compiling and presenting reports for cash receipts and expenditures, accounts
payable and receivable, and profit and loss. Reports to the Principal.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversee all accounts payable functions.
2. Process bi-weekly payroll and maintain employee payroll files.
3. Reconcile general ledger reports and trial balance.
4. Verify bank reconciliation reports.
5. Prepare monthly financial statements.
6. Administer the collection policy.
7. Receipt all incoming cash and prepare daily bank deposits.
8. Reconcile monthly and closing Student A/R subsidiary ledger.
9. Prepare monthly statement mailings/Billing.
10. Reconcile and close monthly receipting of subsidiary ledger.
11. Develop and maintain files, paper and electronic, for faculty and staff.
12. Develop and maintain files, paper and electronic, for each enrolled student.
13. Maintain budget controls.
14. Create general journals for the general ledger.
15. Compile reports to show statistics such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and

receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to the operation of the business.
16. Hire and supervise maintenance, custodial, and business office staff.
17. Participate in conventions and/or workshops related to the functions of accounting.
18. Oversee and supervise all personnel associated with facilities and custodial services including full-

time and part-time adult employees, part-time student workers and volunteers.
19. Oversee the work of contractors performing installation, repairs, and maintenance on campus

property.
20. Ensure that required and appropriate maintenance, repairs, service, and cleaning are completed on

all vehicles.
21. In cooperation with the principal and board finance committee, prepare and oversee the facilities

budget, including custodial, grounds, maintenance, and vehicles.
22. Make budget determinations for projects, tools and equipment and staffing.
23. In cooperation with the principal and board facilities committee, prepare and maintain a Campus

Improvement Plan to be approved by the school board and reviewed by the constituency.

24. Prepare and maintain an annual maintenance schedule and maintain a priority list of weekly and
seasonal maintenance projects to be completed by maintenance staff

25. Prepare and maintain an annual grounds schedule and maintain a priority list of weekly and seasonal
grounds projects to be completed by grounds staff.

26. Work in collaboration with the Principal and board facilities committee to provide updates to the
board and the constituency on the status of the Campus Improvement Plan.

27. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Principal.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with judgment,
creativity, discretion, and the use of intellectual ability. The requirements listed below are representative of
the knowledge, skill, ability required, physical, and work environment.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting or its equivalent and two years of experience in accounting or
finance is desired.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or
complaints. Must possess the ability to read and write functional English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and
percentages. Must have knowledge of accounting principles and be able to apply them to limited areas of
accounting procedures.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram,
or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None required.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in various accounting software, and computer skills (including Excel, Quickbooks). Ability to work
independently and maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with culturally and ethnically diverse groups.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to
finger, hand or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must
occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Assistance should be requested when lifting requirements
exceed 40 pounds. Specific vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
Essential responsibilities are performed primarily in a sedentary and comfortable manner. Tasks are usually
performed under normal office conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort, with a moderate noise level.
Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Overtime is never permitted without supervisor’s prior approval.
